Gene: [00.0/ATP2C] ATPase, Ca++ transporting, platelet?;

FUN

Systematic name: ATP phosphohydrolase (Ca(2+)-transporting). The reaction catalyzed: ATP + H(2)O = ADP + orthophosphate."

FAG

This isoform is assigned to a group of Ca-dependent ATPases, which total number is not known yet. Two other genes, ATP2A1 (skeletal muscle) and ATP2A2 (cardiac muscle), are mapped to chrs 16 and 12, respectively; however, a third isoform (platelet) is supposed to exist. The tissue variability of Ca-dependent ATPases is also accounted for by the heterogeneity of their forms due to alternative splicing. This group is included in the transporting ATPases multigene family, together with Na,K-dependent and H-dependent ATPases (see FAM:ATP/00.0)."
