Gene: [00.0/EIF3S1] eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, subunit 1 (alpha, 35kD);

MOP

[1] Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 is a large, multisubunit protein complex of approximately 600kD that play a central role in the pathway of initiation by promoting the binding of both methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA to the 40S ribosomal subunit. The protein complex consists of at least 10 subunits: eIF3-p35 (this gene product), eIF3-p36 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S2), eIF3-p40 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S3), eIF3-p44 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S4), eIF3-p47 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S5), eIF3-p48 (is encoded by INT6 gene, murine mammary tumor integration site 6; GEM:08q2/EIF3S6), eIF3-p66 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S7), eIF3-p110 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S8), eIF3-p116 (GEM:00.0/EIF3S9), and eIF3-p170 (GEM:10^/EIF3S10)."
