Gene: [00.0/GLIPR] glioma pathogenesis-related protein; related to testis-specific, vespid, and pathogenesis proteins 1; glioma, type ?; [RTVP1 ]
EVO | GLIPR/RTVP1 protein has significant sequence identity to the mammalian testis-specific proteins (e.g., GEM:06^/TSP2), a rat sperm coating glycoprotein (Scg), the vespid venom allergen antigen-5 (Ag5), and a family of plant pathogenesis-related proteins (PR)." |
EXP | Under stringent conditions, Northern blot analysis detected 3 predominant mRNAs of 4.2, 3.2, and 1.1 kb. In fetal tissues, RTVP1 RNA was expressed only in the kidney. In adult tissues, its expression was ubiquitous, with high levels in lung and kidney and low levels in heart and liver. Only the 4.2-kb transcript was detected in the brain. Multiple RTVP1 mRNAs were highly expressed in cell lines derived from nervous system tumors arising from glia, although expression was low or absent in non-glial-derived nervous system tumor cell lines (Rich-1996)." |
