Gene: [15q2/IDH2] isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (NADP+), mitochondrial;

HIS

Distinctions existed in literature on EC isoforms of isocitrate dehydrogenase. Enzyme Nomenclature (1979) indicated two isocitrate dehydrogenases - NAD-dependent (EC:1.1.1.41) and NADP-dependent (EC:1.1.1.42) ones; HGM indicated the code EC:1.1.1.42 for both enzymes; Grzeschik-1976 assigned the code EC:1.1.1.41 to the isoform mapped in chr 15; Shimizu-1977 referred to the isoform mapped in chr 15q as NADP-dependent one (i.e. EC:1.1.1.42). However, Narahara-1985 indicated the code EC:1.1.1.42 for IDH1 isoform, which they mapped to chr 2q."

FUN

The catalyzed reaction: isocitrate + NADP(+) = 2-oxoglutarate + CO(2) + NADPH."

FAG

The cytoplasmic (soluble) isoform, isocitrate dehydrogenase 1, is mapped to Chr 2q (GEM:02q333/IDH1)."
