Gene: [16p112/SPN] sialophorin (leukosialin; protein gpL115); antigen CD43 (leukocyte sialoglycoprotein); [GPL115 CD43 ]

COM

SPN gene was mapped to Chr 16p11.2 in two independent studies (Shelley-1988; Pallant-1989)."

FAG

The gene for sialophorin was previously supposed (Parkman-1981; Remold-O'Donnell-1984) to be located in Chr X, because abnormal forms of this protein was pathogenetically related to X-linked immunodeficiency syndrome 2 (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome; GEM:0Xp112/WAS). Presently, it is the sialophorin expression factor that is assumed to be located in Chr X."
