Five genes from this family (CD1/A,B,C,D,E) have been cloned, sequenced (gDNA available) and mapped. All the genes form a cluster in chromosome 1q within the q2 segment. The domain pattern of these peptides resembles that of the HLA antigens (class I; FAM:MHC1/06p2133), and their amino acid sequence is homologous to that of a HLA protein domain that binds beta-2-microglobulin (GEM:15q2/B2M)." |
