Hayreh SS: Classification of hypertensive fundus changes and their order of appearance. Ophthalmologica 198:247, 1989. This article reviews lesions found in the fundus of a hypertensive monkey model, many of which are found in domestic species.

Littman MP: Spontaneous systemic hypertension in 24 cats. J Vet Intern Med 8:79, 1994. Twenty-four cases of feline hypertension are reviewed, with discussion of common clinical findings, underlying causes, and choice of and response to medical treatment of hypertension.

Morgan R: Systemic hypertension in four cats: Ocular and medical findings. J Am Anim Hosp Assoc 22:615, 1986. A series of feline cases, all with renal failure and secondary hypertension, is presented, along with good-quality photographs of hemor-rhagic ocular changes.

This article presents clinical photographs of ocular changes associated with hypertension in two dogs along with a discussion and photomicrographs of histopathologic changes.

This review discusses the signs and prevalence of hypertensive retinopathy in renal failure or hyperthyroidism in cats and has good photographs of retinal changes.
