Gene: [01p/PRKAR1AP] protein kinase, cAMP-dependent, regulatory subunit, type I, alpha pseudogene;
COM |
According to Solberg-1993, this is the first reported example of a pseudogene for a subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinases from any species. The gene copy contains several stop codons, frameshift mutations, small deletions, and insertions, in comparing with the its functional copy resided in Chr 17 (GEM:17q2/PRKAR1A). In addition, the pseudogene lacks the introns found in the functional counterpart, i.e, the former can be referred to a group of 'processed' pseudogenes which are thought were probably arisen by reverse transcription of an mRNA followed by integration of the cDNA copy into a new chromosomal location (for review of this topic, see Vanin EF: Annu Rev Genet, 19, 253-272, 1985; Weiner AM &: Annu Rev Biochem, 55, 631-661, 1986; and Wilde CD: Crit Rev Biochem, 19, 323-352, 1986." |
