Gene: [02q33/PLCE] phospholipase C, epsilon (lung carcinoma-related); lung carcinoma?;
COM |
Kohno et al. constructed a cosmid contig covering the homozygous deleted region at 2q33, estimated at 220 kb, and identified a gene from the deleted region; all of the coding exons of this gene were homozygously deleted in the cell line, while a 5-prime-noncoding exon was retained (Kohno-1995)." |
ASS |
The aberrant expression of the PLCE gene is suggested to contribute to the genesis of progression of human lung carcinoma since PLCL sequence homology to phospholipase C genes suggested the involvement of the PLCL gene in an inositol phospholipid-based intracellular signaling cascade. However, its expression was greatly reduced in 7 of 13 (53.8%) of small cell lung carcinoma and 13 of 15 (86.7%) of non small-cell lung carcinoma cell lines (Kohno-1995)." |
