Gene: [06p25/PI9] protease inhibitor 9 (ovalbumin type); cytoplasmic antiproteinase 3 (CAP3); [CAP3 ]

COM

The PI9 gene is mapped to Chr 6p25 using FISH (Eyre-1996).

FAG

There is a cluster of serpins at Chr 6p which includes PI6 (GEM:06p2/PI6) and ELANH2 (GEM:06p2/ELANH2)."

FUN

PI9 forms an SDS-resistant complex with granzyme B (GEM:14q112/CTLA1), suggesting that these 2 proteins may form a physiologically significant serpin-serine proteinase interaction. PI9 is expressed in immune tissue and may be involved in immune response (Sun-1996). On other serpin functions see in GEM:14q321/PI1[:FAG]."
