Rajcan-Separovic-1997 used fluorescence in situ hybridization to map API2/HIAP1 to the boundary of 11q22 and 11q23. This is the same locus as the API1 gene (GEM:11q22/API1), and the authors speculate that these genes arose by tandem duplication."
