Gene: [12q22/NEDD1] neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally down-regulated 1;

COM

Takai-1995 assigned the NEDD1 gene to Chr 12q22 by fluorescence in situ hybridization."

FAG

[1] NEDD genes were so named by Kumar-1992 for 'neural precursor cell expressed developmentally and down-regulated'. NEDD genes are expressed strongly during the early development of the central nervous system but at much reduced levels in adult tissues. The expression and biologic activity of NEDDs suggests a potential role as a tumor suppressor genes.
