Gene: [21q223/CRYAA] crystallin, alpha A polypeptide; [CRYA1]
FAG | The family of main human eye lens proteins, crystallins, is subdivided into three types, alpha, beta, and gamma. Coding genes for alpha crystallins are mapped to chrs 21 and 11: GEM:21q223/CRYAA, GEM:11q2/CRYAB. Coding genes for beta crystallins are mapped to chrs 17 and 22: GEM:17q1/CRYBA1, GEM:22q1/CRYBA4, GEM:22q1/CRYBB2; GEM:22q1/CRYBB3. Most gamma crystallin genes and pseudogenes form a cluster in chr 2q3 (FAM:CRYG/02q3), and one of them is mapped to chr 3: GEM:03^/CRYGS." |
