Gene: [02q3/GPC1] glypican 1;

FAG

[1] Glypicans are a family of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans. The glypican family is characterized by a similar core protein size and almost complete conservation of cysteine residues. In human, the GPC gene family includes following genes: GEM:02q3/GPC1; GEM:00.0/GPC2; GEM:0Xq26/GPC3, GEM:00.0/GPC4, GEM:13q32/GPC5.
[2] The glypicans are 1 of the 2 major families of cell-surface proteoglycans, the other being the syndecans, see on them in GEM:02p/SDC1."
