Gene: [05q31/IL4] interleukin 4 (B cell stimulatory factor-1); [BCGF1 BSF1 ]

COM

GDB indicates the IL4 location less precisely: 05q23-31 [GDB:G00-120-096:LOC='05 q23-31']. However, IL4 was mapped to 5q31 by many investigators (Sutherland-1988; Saltman-1993). By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Le Beau et al. mapped the gene to 5q31.1 (Le Beau-1993)."

LIN

The IL4 and IL5 genes (GEM:05q31/IL5) are tightly linked (Chandrasekharappa-1990).

GEN

The gene length: 10 kb. Exons: 4. Introns: 3 (0.272, 5.2, and 2.588 kb). Propeptide has been deduced to contain 153 amino acid residues, the mature peptide, 120 amino acid residues."

PRO

The probe is an expressible vector pcD-HIL-4 (clone 46); it contains a 0.6 kb cDNA fragment (with tails) cloned in the plasmid pBR322."

FAG

Two proteins have been described as constituents of the IL-4 receptor, a approximately 140-kDa glycoprotein (GEM:16p121/IL4R) and the gamma chain of the IL-2 receptor (GEM:0Xq131/IL2RG)."
