SUM

[1] Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure within the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes.
[2] The H1 histone family in mammals contains at least seven subtypes. The structures of the flanking regions of the most histone genes are identical and include: (1) a CCAAT element in the promotor region, (2) a TATA box and (3) a palindromic termination element (Albig-1997).

HIS

[1] Data on genomic organization and regional chromosome localization of histone genes are very controversial: of 11 genes registered in HGM9.5 (1988), only five was indicated as being mapped in subsequent HGMs and CCM92. All genes that were previously mapped to chromosome 7 (H1F1, H2A1, H2B1, H3F1, and H4F1) were excluded. The HUGEN reflects the situation with account for all reports, which results, taken apart, do not always accord, but in total allow to imagine the pattern of distribution of histone genes among chromosomes."
