Gene: [04q35/KLK3] kallikrein 3, plasma (Fletcher factor); Fletcher factor deficiency (plasma kallikrein deficiency);

COM

The KLK3 gene was mapped to Chr 4q35 by in situ hybridization (Beaubien-1991).

PAT

DeLa Cadena-1995 reported studies of a 9-year-old patient with markedly prolonged APTT but normal prothrombin time and bleeding time and also reviewed the role of prekallikrein in thrombosis."

FUN

[1] Plasma kallikrein is a serine protease that, among other roles, plays a part in blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, and complement activation. These events may be mediated through protein substrates (e.g. see GEM:03p/ITIH4) produced by partial proteolysis by KLK3.
[2] Plasma prekallikrein, also known as Fletcher factor (Mr 88,000), and factor XI (GEM:04q35/F11) are zymogens of 2 distinct serine proteinases present in normal plasma."

FAG

See GEM:19q13/KLK1.
