Gene: [14q112/CTSG] cathepsin G;
FAG | [1]
Cathepsin G is a component of the group of serine proteinases found inside
the azurophilic granules of neitrophils and monocytes at promyelocytic and
promonocytic stages of leucocyte differentiation. [2] On other cathepsins, see GEM:08p22/CTSB. [3] This gene is very similar, with respect to the general structure, to other serine proteinase genes - so called neutrophilic elastase (GEM:11q14/ELA3) and myeloperoxidase (GEM:17q2/MPO)." |
GEN | [1] The gene length is
2.7 kb. Exons: 5 (83/147/135/253, and 256 bp), exon 1 including also 28
5'-untranslated nucleotides, beginning with the sequence [2] The 5'-untranscribed gene region contains the canonical promoter (TATA box) in position -29 and an additional promoter (CAAT box) in position -69; the 3'-untranslated region (87 bp, including the stop codon) contains, beginning with the 57th base pair, the canonical poly(A) signal (AATAAA motif) and, 30 bp apart, poly(A) site <..aat..>." |
